training camp

I wasn't sure if I could make it, but the other manager for the club can't go, so I guess I'll have to. I need to catch up with everything, a year abroad can really change you. I feel like i'm going throigh reverse culture shock and wanted to stay in the city and get used to everything again, but it will have to wait.

It's getting really cold now and my room is so badly insulated. I need to buy a radiator heater and an electric blanket.

Does anyone know of a good place to buy things like that.. and hopefully a place that delivers?

I believe they have a homegoods store in the mall. They deliver for a reasonable price.

Not at all.

Where did you study abroad, if you don't mind me asking?

I may have a spare electric blanket hiding in one of my unpacked boxes.~ I totally forgot how cold it was in Japan.

Want me to drop it off?

I don't mind at all! I accidentally bought a second one because I thought I lost my first electric blanket so it will just be collecting dust anyhow.

It's good to see you again, by the way! I never did properly thank you for showing me around the sister uni back in America. It felt so nice being able to speak in Japanese with another person.
bikeprincess: (oh)

[personal profile] bikeprincess 2015-12-02 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Are you sure? Because I really don't mind giving it to you. Think of it as a gift for helping me out back in America! :D

Yeah, you were the only Japanese person I spoke to during my entire trip. Oh yes! I was interested in Kaiko back in high school but your touring greatly influenced my decision~

Oh so you're also going to the training camp? We might work together then~ I'm Tachibana An, tennis club manager at Johoga.

You might want to check out at the mall I think one of the stores there have a site that you can probably buy on and deliver.

You can just call me An-chan! You sort of get used to it after a while. :b But lucky for you we'll be more than just us two.

I don't really know another place, I pretty much got everything there. ^_^; Hopefully that helps you~

Reverse culture shock is difficult. After being away for five years, I can definitely say the effects of being abroad run deeper than we first anticipate.

There is an Italian place that delivers. I'll leave the details for you. It is... surprisingly comforting.

[ ooc: Please insert relevant details for yummy foreign food here! lol because he misunderstood the context entirely... the idiot. lol ]

I went to Australia first, then the UK, then America and I just got back from Germany a few days ago. After being there I'm finding adjusting to normal conversation with Japanese people difficult. It's not that I forgot the language or anything drastic like that. I just seem to.. have forgotten what it is like here.. and how people are.

I hope I haven't offended you in any way. I merely felt I would offer something that I have found helps me adjust after feeling... disconnected. I'm not sure if that is the correct word.

Ah.. I was training. In all of those places. Usually for specific things. I have a large list of things I need to achieve and going to all of those places allowed for rapid growth. I'd like to say it has been a success, but I cannot until I manage to play some matches now that I am back in Japan.

Aa. Germany is worse. It's even more to the point than America. However, I know exactly what you mean. I don't understand the need to circle around a topic anymore and when I do, it is... offensive. I never mean any harm but it seems that my social attempts never particularly end well.

Oh. My apologies. I am not very good at understanding context sometimes. Food is definitely nice. I recommend the carbonara and their calzones are definitely very good.

To be one half of the best tennis doubles pair in the world. To take over the world with our own style of tennis and a friend by my side so we can make lots of amazing memories together. After all... what is the point in conquering the world if when you finally stand at the top... there's no one there to share it with?

Ah. I am glad to hear that. I get very anxious when having conversations, however typing seems to be much easier to handle. It gives me enough time to think, without looking as if I'm just staring at the other person. If that happens, it is often because I do not know how to respond.

Oh! I know. They are amazing. Italian food is my all time favourite food. It is to die for. Everything is so bold and tasty. I don't get to eat out very often, usually I am just drinking juice all the time but when I manage to have enough to order in... it's really amazing. You should see the lasagne too-- the cheese looks so good!

Huh... I never thought of it as romantic before. I suppose it is in line with those kinds of ideals, isn't it? I think I may be slightly embarrassed. I've never said that much about my goal or expanded on it in that much detail before. Usually I just say I want to be a professional athlete. I agree though, it just doesn't feel right without having someone to share success with. Or a goal with.

Volleyball? I have been interested in the potential cross-training between tennis and volleyball. I would definitely like to speak to you about your experiences if you have some time? I will be at the training camp, but I will not be participating. Merely observing. Perhaps we could speak about it if you are not otherwise engaged?

As for food. I am in the Momo dorms, however twice daily I run a circuit of the entire town. I pass by there. It wouldn't be out of my way to stop and eat if you wished.

I've had mine since I was eight. though I did get it from my first friend and doubles partner. Then I made a promise to my captain in junior high, to help win nationals. Then after I finished that promise I went back to this dream. Though for the last ten years I have had no one to share it with. Hopefully that has changed now.

I'm 201cm and yes, I can jump extremely well. It is one of my greatest weapons that I worked on to push my body beyond the limits of strength for my serve. Jumping is one of my best skills aside from my stamina, which I have been training relentlessly for over 10 years. I would definitely like to play with you. You will have to explain what I should do, however.

Just message me and I will drop by. Likely you will see me running by while training every morning and night regardless. Please don't think poorly of me for that, it's just the road I happen to take. If you would prefer I change roads, I can do that also.

[screened] I believe it's still a secret, but Sanada-kun has become my doubles partner. I'm very excited because he's so strong and barely ever loses. I hope that I can live up to his expectations of me. I'll train even harder so that we can be the strongest.[endscreen]

I played in PE in high school. I've been wanting to see how much of tennis carried over. I have a tennis serve that goes over 200km/h, I wanted to see how much different it would be to serve in volleyball.

Aa... I am concerned, yes... it has been nice talking to you, but I wouldn't wish for you to think I was going by on purpose or for some untoward reason. It's just I run there... and I wanted you to be aware of it, I suppose. Since.. I'd like it if we could.. perhaps be friends...?

I do have a LINE. My ID is [screened]dataman[endscreen]. I'll add you now.

[screened] I'll make sure to let you know. Since we go to different universities, we have to register for an outside club and play in public tournaments to gain professional Japanese rankings. When there's a tournament, I'll let you know. Sanada-kun is amazing to watch play. I'm boring, but I'll definitely make it so he can shine 100% on the court. [endscreen]

It is fast, yes. I see that's interesting data. I wonder if I could spike at a higher speed by applying my tennis knowledge? That will be interesting to see.

We are? Ah. I haven't had any friends for a long time. I made two friends since I've been here and it's the most I've ever had. I'm very grateful. I don't like to assume I'm someone's friend. I usually wait for them to tell me or give me permission to be their friend. I think it would be a little rude to assume I mean so much to a person that they'd refer to me as such.

I'm never doing anything but training. So whenever you are free will be fine for me.

It sounds like a tiring experience - but given my level of stamina, I'd definitely like to test myself against the skills of volleyball. After all, my weaknesses will only be highlighted all the more, therefore make what I need to train that much clearer.

I'm glad. I'll talk to you then.

[screened] I know that I am essential. Sanada definitely doesn't need me to shine, however. He has always been more than capable of that on his own. I suppose I just meant that on the court together, he is the one that shines and I will be the one that supports. I don't mind that role. In fact, I find myself drawn to more supporting roles. Though I believe Sanada-kun is a person capable of using me to my fullest capacity in doubles. I'm a specific type of player and it is difficult to find someone who is a match for the things I do. Sanada is simply an amazing all rounder that can do anything. He's agreed to support me and my style of tennis so we can form a pair around that. I don't think I could ask for more. I won't let him down.

Definitely my speed. It always has been. I'm slow off the mark. I've been desperately training to fix that, however.

[screened]
though... even with my one big weakness. Sanada is fast. I know he'll always catch whatever I miss while I'm at the net. I trust him. I know I can rely on him to make up for my shortcomings. I do rely on him. A lot. That's why I have to work hard too. So he can rely on me just as much as I know I'll be relying on him.

Welcome back to Japan. Where in the overseas were you at? Toyama is a friendly city, surely you have no worries about adapting.

Like everyone said, the mall is a good place to check it out. We do have some specialised home supplies shops, but it might be slightly more expensive. Secondhand shop might have some nifty ones for cheap price, but you never know when it would broke down.
